If someone told you...
there's a plant that heals illness, makes you more attractive and live longer...
also that this plant absorbs carbon, needs no land or fresh water to grow and renews itself at a rate of 60cm per day so is environmentally sustainable...
...you certainly wouldn't believe that it is also local, abundant and native to the UK and Europe.
Too good to be true, right?
And even if you got that far, you would probably be thinking "Oh no, it's going to be disgusting" when in fact... it's delicious. So much so that original flavour enhancers were made from it.

Health benefits of seaweed...
Seaweeds have the widest range of vitamins and minerals of any plant on the planet. They have dense levels of micronutrients like iron (Dulse), magnesium (Sea Spaghetti) and calcium (Wakame) - far outstripping land vegetables and meat/fish, which is great for vegetarians, vegans, flexitarians, omnivores and really anyone all at who cares about their health.
One of their really great nutrients is iodine, typical of sea-born foods like mackerel and shellfish but in a convenient dried, easy to store and with a wide range of uses. Iodine is essential for - among other things - regulating our metabolic system which helps our body regulate our weight and mood. The level of iodine is very high in seaweed, and diets with lots of seaweed in them - such as in Japan for example - have been shown to have lower levels of lots of illnesses common to Western countries such as heart disease and diabetes. A coincidence? Jamie Oliver found the consumption of seaweed to be consistent with healthy, happy long lives across the world in this article.
Let's talk about protein. As I'm sure you know your body needs a complete protein to access the muscle, bone, brain building benefits, which means an adequate proportion of each of the nine essential amino acids. Meat fish and eggs are complete proteins and you can combine other foods (eg. rice and beans) in the same meal to make them up. Seaweed is the only vegan complete source of protein out there.
We all know how important fibre is for your gut and whole digestive system - and seaweed is a rich, gluten-free source of fibre. Sea Spaghetti is the perfect replacement for traditional spaghetti, easy to digest, mild to taste and completely non-bloating.
And finally the consumption (and application of) seaweed promotes collagen production, so can help keep skin plump and glowing.

Environmental benefits of seaweed...
We really care about our planet.
Working with a natural resource like seaweed that is nature's gift to our health is incredibly humbling, and we want to make sure we impact the earth in a positive way, leaving it with less carbon in our atmosphere and cleaner, healthier seas.
Getting your readily bio-available vitamins, minerals and protein from seaweed rather than animals is a great start, reducing the need for fresh water, finite fertile land and reducing emissions from animal agriculture.
Seaweed is a co-dependent, highly functioning part of the marine environment, absorbing the nutrients and helping by acting also as a filter. This is why it's very important to only consume seaweed that comes from a reliable source and is certified organic.
Our seaweed is harvested sustainably by hand, ensuring the delicate balance of the shoreline is maintained and the crop remains secure for future years. Working with and not against our friend the earth.
Our packaging is fully recyclable with most kerbside facilities and is made in the UK. All products are locally sourced and packaged and stored in the UK.
Experiment wildly and enjoy!
